Psalm 145 Sketch

Once in a while, I like to sketch out a sermon or a bible passage. I liked how this Psalm 145 sketch turned out and posted it in 2006.

Psalm 145 sketch

I like this passage because it is full of joy. After all, it is a song of praise. And it speaks about teaching good news from one generation to the next. That is a theme that has resonated with me over the years. It is why I still love to work in children’s ministry.

In a world that has so much bad and discouraging news, I find it good to focus on some positive, encouraging news once in a while. We all need to have a balance.

The Book of Psalms does not shy away from negative emotions. In some passages, David, or another psalmist is brutally honest about anger, depression, and discouragement. Yet, there is always a bit of hope even in the darkest passages.

So on a day, a week, or a year that seems to have so much negative news, I hope this Psalm 145 sketch from sixteen years ago gives a little hope. There is some good in the world. Even though some days, that good is harder to find than others.

Editor’s Note: I originally published this blog on October 6, 2015. I revamped and updated it for timeliness and comprehensiveness.
