Bibliophile Cartoon

I love books. And most likely, if a search engine brought you here, you do too. I thought about what it would be like if a book wanted that same love back and came up with this bibliophile cartoon.

Bibliophiles unite cartoon. an animated book says to a person, "Will you love me even if I am not made from recycled materials?"

Some amazing things happen when bibliophiles unite.

Memories of a Bibliophile

Some of my earliest memories involve books. My mom would read Egermeier’s Bible Story Book to us kids. Little did I know that thirty years later, I would get to redesign the same book and convert the text for the digital age!

I would marvel at how the illustrations went with the text. Sometimes, I would stare at a picture and wonder what else was going on in the story. What was that person thinking? Was the animal in the bottom right corner about to raise a ruckus? I didn’t know it, but I was beginning to make my own stories.

When I began to read on my own, I was amazed that I could go to the library and check out any book I wanted. I was filled with pride because my dad was on the library board. I thought that meant I owned the place and it gave me special privileges. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered anyone could do the same thing!

Bibliophiles are Contagious

When I married my wife, she wasn’t that into books. Over thirty years later, we find ourselves comparing notes on different books and discussing our thoughts about this author or that idea. We find ourselves in a friendly competition on who ordered this book or read that one.

We passed that love onto our kids as we read to them and talked about our books. Now it’s thrilling when one of them refers a book to us. The love goes on.

Considering all this, I’m surprised I haven’t created another bibliophile cartoon or two. I suppose I should reconsider this oversight. After all, those books are where many of these ideas come from.

Editor’s Note: I originally published this blog on October 6, 2015. I revamped and updated it for timeliness and comprehensiveness.
