Traditional Turkey Trot

Cartoon of a wife and husband in a kitchen. The wife says, “We’€™re having a traditional Thanksgiving. Here’€™s a musket. The turkey is in the backyard.”

It’s Thanksgiving week in the USA. Time to figure out how to get that turkey with all the trimmings. I’ve never shot a turkey, nor have I had the privilege of using a musket. I’m hoping we can find the perfect bird at our neighborhood grocer. It’s much tidier that way.

Ghosts and Gluttony

Cartoon of two trick or treaters. One says, “It must have been a successful Halloween, because I’m spent!”

I drew this for Illustration Friday. This week’s word is “spent.”

A Caffeinated Treat

Cartoon of a woman and a trick or treater. The woman says, “Happy Halloween! Here, have a pumpkin spice latte!”

Several years ago, I took my son trick-or-treating. We came to a home that obviously wasn’t prepared. The lady was giving warm cans of soda pop to the kids. Each child just stared at the can an mumbled a “thank you,” as they tossed it in their treat bags.

Looking back on it, I would have preferred a latte.

Closet of Horrors

Cartoon of a boy and an older man. The boy says, “I need a Halloween costume. Can I look through your closet?”

One of the nice things I like about the Goodwill Stores is it’s like going through someone else’s closet and finding the perfect costume for Halloween. An added benefit is I don’t alienate my neighbors.
