When it comes to networking, my wife is a pro. She is a children’s pastor. You can bet she has a bounce house vendor on speed dial.
I realized how handy that was when each of our children graduated from high school. She knew parents would bring their children. On each open house, the bounce house rental guy showed up and set up quite the nice bounce house. The kids had a blast and parents could mingle and congratulate our graduate without a worry.
When my networking journey began last year, my wife was a great example to emulate.
- She doesn’t force her way into a crowd
- She is always friendly and offers a smile to everyone
- She offers value to everyone she meets with a name, a mention of an article she read or some empathy
- She remembers a name by repeating it
She has been successful in children’s ministry partially because she networks and knows how to bring value to a relationship. It’s been a great pattern to follow.
