Cartoon: Ace in the Hole

Cartoon of two boys staring at a manhole. Boy says, “Sorry , Mister. At least you can say you were part of a home run.”

There are two activities that let you know summer is here; baseball and construction. It’s a glorious thing when they are combined. It’s also sad to see them come to a close as fall comes upon us.

Let’s hope there are no open manholes at the upcoming baseball playoffs. I’d like to see the Atlanta Braves play the Detroit Tigers in the World Series. I won’t call it a prediction nor a strong hope. If the Cincinnati Reds win a wildcard game, then my strong hope may surface again.

I drew this in Adobe Illustrator CS2

Cartoon: A boring summer

Cartoon of two boys. One says to the other, “What a boring summer! Not one of us has had a trip to the emergency room.”

When you’re a kid, you get discouraged because nothing exciting happened all summer. When you’re a parent, you’re praying nothing exciting happens to the kids all summer. Excitement can be quite expensive
It’s hard to believe it’s almost time for school. Let the excitement begin!

Illustration Friday: Emergency

It’s summer time in Indiana and the bugs seem to find windshields like a moth to a flame.

If a but sees a windshield coming at fifty-five miles an hour, I’m assuming that would be an emergency!

IF: Crash

We have a blizzard warning in Indiana today (February 13, 2007). Everyone is staying put and watching the snow pummel us. As soon as the wind and the snow dies down, I’m sure my kids will try to get out there and have some fun. After all, school is closed. I can just imagine this scene happening somewhere in the Midwestern US today.

If you live in colder, snowy climates, do you remember the time you transitioned from loving the snow because of all the fun things to do and dreading it because you would have to drive in it? I remember the first time I drove in freezing rain. I tapped the brakes and my car immediately made a 180 degree turn. It scared me to death. I wanted to leave the car where it was, grab a sled and forget the whole driving thing.
