Cartoon: Quick Seasons

Cartoon of a boy in winter clothes and another dressed in summer clothes

Cartoon of two boys. One is dressed for winter, while the other is in summer clothes. One says, “The seasons changed? No one told me.”

I used to think it was cool going out in the winter air without a coat. The first time I caught walking pneumonia tempered my excitement in that arena. Now that I’m older, I find myself flailing my arms and speaking in a shrill voice to my children who want to go out in sub zero weather in shorts and flip flops. I guess the chickens have come home to roost.

At least they can’t say no one ever told them.

Illustration Friday: Snow

Illustration of a skier stuck in the snow. I drew this for Illustration Friday. This week's word is "snow."

Here is an illustration I did of a skier stuck in the snow. This shows why you won’t find me on a ski slope. I imagine this would be the fate of me. No, I never went snow skiing. I tried water skiing once. My ankles betrayed me and I couldn’t get out of the water. I’m assuming a similar fate would await me if I took to the slopes.

I drew this for Illustration Friday. This week’s word is “snow.”

Icy Reverse

Cartoon of a man and his dog. They are trying to go up an icy hill, to no avail. I drew this for Illustration Friday. This week’s word is “reverse.”

There’s been a lot of ice in Indiana lately. This week, I’ll be pleased if I merely slide in reverse instead of crashing onto my derriere.

Surrender the Snow Fort

Illustration of a snowball fight. A girl holds a snowball while a boy behind a snow fort surrenders. I drew this for Illustration Friday. This week’s word is “surrender.”

Melting snowman

Illustration of a boy in a winter rain. He discovers the head of a melted snowman.

The other day, the rain was coming down hard and all the snow was melting. The snowmen were looking pretty pathetic. This idea came to mind. I drew this in Adobe Illustrator.
