Yuletide-Celebration-tree

Yuletide-Celebration-tree, originally uploaded by speartoons.

I illustrated this for the local, high school Christmas concert. As luck would have it, it works with Illustration Friday’s topic of “excess.”

We go to excesses at Christmas, don’t we? We shop and eat until December 26th, then we make resolutions to get back in physical and financial shape.

Merry Christmas, and pace yourselves. All those excesses can weigh on a person.

At a kids’ School Musical

I was doing some sketching while a kids musical was about to begin. These guys didn’t quite want to sit until the event was underway. Who wants to sit when that’s what you have been doing all day?

Post Vacation Stress

Cartoon of a boy and girl
Caption reads: “I’m suffering from PVSD: Post Vacation Stress Disorder.”

Whew! I’m not looking forward to waking the kids this morning. The well-oiled machine will squeaky this morning. It was hard enough getting everyone to bed last night. Our biological clocks think it is still vacation. Oh, Florida! How we miss ye!

It was a great time for the family. Now back to reality!

Laugh Lines

Caption reads: “Come on, Mrs. Podgummer! Laugh! It’ll be good for your wrinkles.”

Why is it the people who need to laugh the most are the ones who find it hardest to laugh? Prim and proper just doesn’t seem all that fun to me.

Laughter is a good face lift. So laugh today!

Modern Homework Excuses

Boy to teacher: “The computer scanner ate my report.”

I remember only one time when I messed up on getting my homework done. The teacher made sure it never happened again. My ears are still ringing from the tongue lashing she gave me.

The nice thing about technology is it gives a whole new range of excuses. But don’t bet on getting away with them!
