“I’d like to make a withdrawal on all I saved practicing Daylight Saving Time.”
I lived in Indiana when we didn’t practice Daylight Saving Time, then watched the results when we went along with most of the country. The Monday after was never pretty. Schools and businesses were filled with cranky, sleep-deprived people.
Today, I live in Arizona; a state that still doesn’t practice Daylight Saving Time. The Monday after, people seemed much happier here. They had a little spring in their step that had nothing to do with springing forward or falling back.
So I conclude Indiana made a mistake when we caved in to peer pressure. Daylight Saving Time doesn’t do much except it gives a great excuse for a cranky yucky Monday. It’s time to make Daylight Saving Time go the way of the dodo.
