No, I am not the guy in this cartoon. My wife and I have a cat. I love cats and dogs. So this “No Cat Scans Cartoon” is simply based on cranky people.
Just for the record, I like cats too. Over the years, we’ve had one of each at our house. Yes, we were equal opportunity pet owners.
We used to have a dog, but she passed on to doggie heaven and we’re left with the feline. There are plus and minuses for each type of pet. I don’t have to walk the dog in subzero weather. Then again a cat leaves plenty of messes to clean up. It’s a toss-up!
The Value of Cat Scans
I haven’t had this type of test yet, so I am no expert. If you are going to experience such a test, here are ten reasons you may need a CT scan. A cat scan and CT scan basically mean the same thing, in my understanding. This helpful article from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital explains the difference.
CAT stands for computerized axial tomography while a CT scan leaves out axial in the acronym. Either way, it’s an amazing piece of technology. Don’t bother to ask for a Dog Scan. Apparently, they haven’t been invented yet.
Whether you are in the medical field or a patient, my hope is that this “No cat scans cartoon” gives a little humor to strange acronyms and cranky patients everywhere.
Editor’s Note: I originally published this blog on October 6, 2015. I revamped and updated it for timeliness and comprehensiveness.
