There’s no cartoon this morning. As this post comes out, I am getting ready for our church elementary large group. We’ll be talking about generosity. You may say, “But wait! It’s Christmas! Why are you talking about generosity?”
Because It’s always amazed me how quickly We Americans move from giving thanks to fighting over large screen TV’s, inkjet printers and ugly Christmas sweaters at bargain prices! Have you noticed ugly Christmas sweaters have changed now that they know they are ugly? It’s almost as if the manufacturers ask, “How can we ensure they will hold their nose while buying this gaudy masterpiece?”
What is the cure for all this Christmas greed? Generosity! Acts 20:35 has it right when it quoted Jesus as saying, “It’s more blessed to give than receive.” We may think we need another video game or animatronic, creepy doll. But what we really need is to be generous. So this morning, I will attempt to teach eager elementary kids that generosity is the real key to Christmas. Since God gave so much, we can give as well. Large group is in one hour, forty-five minutes. Wish me luck!
