Sketchbook Pro sketch

20120613-221834.jpg

I thought I’d try and see what would happen if I took a sketch directly from the Sketchbook Express app and published to WordPress on my iPad. This test won’t win any awards, but I’m rather happy with the results. This could be the start of something fun.

Suspense!

Sketch of what suspense means to me.

This is a page out of my sketch journal. This week’s word for Illustration Friday was “suspense.”

When I heard today’s theme for Illustration Friday was “suspense,” I decided I would take a page directly from my sketchbook. The word reminded me of old radio drama shows and comic books. It reminds me of a little grime and notes taken on napkins. Something seedy is going on when there’s some suspense!

Uncertain Jack-o’-lantern

Page from my sketchbook. I drew this Jack-o’-lantern in 2001. At the time, our country was going through a lot of scary things and I was struggling through a lot. I was between jobs and my wife and I were just trying to figure out what would happen next.

All the stuff we were going through then seems so trivial then. I don’t know what you’re going through today, but know that everything changes. If you’re going through a rough spot, there is hope. The good old days are only good when we are way ahead of them. Hold on, child. Things are gonna get easier!

Disgruntled Coach Illustration

When I heard Illustration Friday’s word was “ferocious,” I spotted this sketch in my sketchbook. Basketball is king in Indiana and if things aren’t going well, the coach can get quite ferocious. It they get worse, the fans get ferocious and the poor coach begins to fear for his life!

Call of the Wild

Cartoon of a woman entering a house and seeing her sloppily dressed significan other. She says, “Boy! I only have to be gone a few days for you to revert back to the wild!”

Here’s a rough right out of my sketchbook

My wife and son come back from an extended trip today. I’m hoping she doesn’t think I converted the house to a hermit’s hut. At least I’ve put away my buffalo cap and bermuda shorts. That should help tidy up the place.
