Sermons in 3D Cartoon

Some churches are always searching for the latest technology to enhance a worship service. So one day, I thought of this “Sermons in 3D Cartoon.”

Sermons in 3D cartoon. A mom says to a pastor, “He’s listened to all of your sermons since I told him you presented them in 3D.”

Isn’t it amazing what a little creativity and technology can add to a sermon or presentation? Still, I think 3D technology would be a bit distracting. However, it could be effective, and a little convicting when a pastor would reach right out to you.

When I drew this, Avatar was quite popular. The 3D technology used in the film was all the rage and had me consider how it would affect future movies. Alas, it doesn’t appear it changed sermons. The life-like quality would have made quite an impact!

However, we shouldn’t just use technology for technology’s sake. We are going to get pushback from others who aren’t keen on the latest trends if implementing the technology has no real benefit.

Instead, consider how to use technology in the church. This article at Donorbox.org has some helpful tips.

It appears that the only impact 3D movies have had on the church so far is that they inspired this “sermons in 3D cartoon.”

I drew this cartoon for the November 2022 CHOGNews.

Editor’s Note: I originally published this blog on October 6, 2015. I revamped and updated it for timeliness and comprehensiveness.
