Wipe the Slate Clean

Cartoon of a boy and a teacher. The boy says, "It's hard to wipe the slate clean when you use a permanent marker."Cartoon of a boy and teacher. The boy says, “It’s hard to wipe the slate clean when you use a permanent marker.”

I’ve often heard people say, “I’ll forgive, but you better believe I won’t forget.” It is a difficult thing to do, isn’t it? If I’ve slighted you, I hope you’ve forgotten about it. It wasn’t on purpose… honest! But we must remember great things come through patience and forgiveness.

Cartoon: parenting butterflies

Cartoon of caterpillar child to parent butterfly. Caterpillar says, “Nag, nag, nag! I can’t wait until I get a chrysalis of my own.”

Insects must have it easy. Even though their parenting skills are nonexistent, they don’t have to deal with a generation gap.
Then again, they don’t know the joys of parenting either. I guess it’s about how much you invest. Go ahead and give your time. Sooner or later, that caterpillar will emerge as a stunning butterfly.

On what day did God create the Internet?

I read an article from Ministry Tech Magazine. It was talking about cloud computing and how it’s coming faster than anyone would have anticipated. No, it didn’t answer on what day God created the Internet!

The author talked about how netbooks and iPhones are totally changing the way we use computers. it reminded me of a problem we had at my church the other week. I normally use the Internet for portions of my lesson and accessing files from my MobileMe account. IT changed the setup so there was no longer a password needed to get onto the wireless.

The only problem was, I couldn’t get on at all. It seemed all the smartphones were hogging the connection. Whether people were using the wi-fi or not, the phones aggressively accessed the wi-fi nonetheless.

It amazes me how pervasive technology has become in our church in such a small amount of time. How has technology affected how your church works?

Post Vacation Stress

Cartoon of a boy and girl
Caption reads: “I’m suffering from PVSD: Post Vacation Stress Disorder.”

Whew! I’m not looking forward to waking the kids this morning. The well-oiled machine will squeaky this morning. It was hard enough getting everyone to bed last night. Our biological clocks think it is still vacation. Oh, Florida! How we miss ye!

It was a great time for the family. Now back to reality!
