Have you ever dealt with someone who plays the victim? Have you ever felt like one? Steve Southards preached on May 21, 2017, about Difficult People: The Victim.
The big takeaway I got was as Christians, there is a tension between wanting to help someone, and enabling them to continue bad behaviors that have put them in a bind and made them feel like a victim. It takes a lot of discernment to know what people need as opposed to what they want.
Short-term help for people with a serious problem is like putting a bandage on amputation. We must be compassionate and have the foresight to see how today’s actions will affect the future.
