Last month, I got to interview a pastor about a new ministry his church launched. I enjoyed writing it because it challenged some preconceived notions about how a ministry should serve its community. Here is a link to the Hope in Surprising Places Article.
I love the chance to write an article where faith and hope are present. As I’ve written before, I used to mix up the two terms. But it’s evident in the article that this church is bringing hope to its community through the active use of faith.
I enjoyed writing this article because I’ve seen the pastor I interviewed grow up. It’s gratifying at this stage in my life to see kids grow into faithful adults who are making a difference in their community.
I also enjoy writing an article filled with faith and hope. There are too many stories out there that proclaim doom and gloom. And I realize that we cannot be naive about problems in the world. Yet, if all we do is talk about them, and not do anything about them, then what is the point?
We all need a little hope. There is a multitude of stories out there about people and organizations that are making a difference. We need to proclaim those stories as much as the articles that point out what is wrong in the world.
