Some health issues are self-inflicted. Such is the case with this canine remedy cartoon. This poor dog needs to stop chasing cats!
There are some dogs that are adept at chasing cats. Then there are others that really should find another hobby! We had a dog that wasn’t cut out for cat-chasing since she was not bigger than most of her targets. I have learned to beware of dogs and fools!
The Courage of a Canine
When we brought her home, she learned very quickly that the cat in the household ranked higher on the pecking order than she did. Still, as a puppy, she would try to corner our old tomcat. While the chase didn’t end up with a trip to the vet, there were times we had to rescue the dog from her foolish efforts.
What is it about small dogs that make them think they can take on anything? My daughter and son-in-law have a dachshund that is convinced she could take on a dog five times her size.
This hasn’t stopped as the critter has become a senior citizen. If anything, she has become more convinced that she is able to subdue any creature that dares to cross her path!
While I admire the courage of many dogs, I know full well that one of the main tasks of a dog owner is to protect our pets from themselves. What would they do if we weren’t around? I think of that every time the news has a story on some poor dog that has to be rescued from a frozen pond. Was he chasing a cat? If so, it didn’t go well for the unfortunate pooch!
So enjoy this canine remedy cartoon and lookout if your pooch rushes in where angels fear to tread.
I drew this for Illustration Friday. The week’s word was “remedy.”
