It’s a good thing I didn’t have a cell phone in school. Would I have received a call from Mom? Probably not. But I most likely would have been calling for a lifeline every few minutes.
Today, can you really trust if it’s your mom calling you? Scammers can mask any number and make it appears it is coming from your loved one. If your mother is calling to ask for your social security number, it’s probably a good sign that the person on the other line is a scammer. The deep, bass voice may be a giveaway too.
Text or Call From Mom?
Since I drew this cartoon, it is much more likely that a child will text his Mom as opposed to calling her. I don’t have that dilemma right now because my mom doesn’t text. My dad does. However, the likelihood he will relay the text to her is pretty small. It is much more likely that she will see my message on Facebook.
Therefore, for me, the best option is to call her. I make it a habit to call at least once a week. It’s a good idea to stay in touch. Plus, you will find it much less likely to fall for a scammer if you actually recognize your mom’s voice!
So the bottom line is that it is good to call your mom at least once a week. But it’s probably not a good idea if it is during class.

Ahahahaha. I can relate–kids and cell phones…sheeeesh. My son had 9,000 outgoing text messages in one month. What's worse is I think most of them were to his buds who were sitting or standing beside him. Aahahaha
Isn't that the truth! They sure stand by their cell phones.
