When it comes to students, nothing inspires a love and respect prayer like a hard test! This cartoon was inspired by one of my classes.
It reminds me of the quip, “As long as there are tests, there will be prayer in schools.” That quote has been around at least since 1964 when the US Supreme Court ruled in Engel vs Vitale that organized prayer in public schools is unconstitutional.
Yes, I’ve had a few tests like that. It’s amazing how our priorities change when we come upon a test, isn’t it? Tests and promises seem to go hand in hand!
After all, it comes naturally if faith is important to us and we face a stressful situation. It helps us get grounded and take our focus off of the challenge before us. I’ve had a few posts about prayer over the years.
- Prayer and going back to school
- Prayer requests
- Driving and prayer
- Parents and increasing your prayer life
Needless to say, prayer has been quite the topic in my creative endeavors!
When I drew this, my two kids were in public school. The whole concept of a love and respect prayer was heavy on my mind. For instance, how do we love and respect each other while maintaining our beliefs and showing them proper respect? There are no easy answers. It takes lots of humility and consideration of others.
