I can’t help it. I love Christmas music, especially this time of the year. But Santa Baby is one Christmas song I have grown to despise. You may like it, and that is fine with me. Just please, PLEASE don’t play it in front of me one more time. If you do, I’ll have to drown it out with Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer!

There’s no cartoon this morning. As this post comes out, I am getting ready for our church elementary large group. We’ll be talking about generosity. You may say, “But wait! It’s Christmas! Why are you talking about generosity?”
A freeway is a place of busyness. We are speeding by, barely noticing what is going on around us. A freeway is made to get us somewhere as quick as possible.
Experience has taught me a freeway is not a place for contemplation or for quiet reflection. It is not a place you would expect Joseph and Mary. Every once in a while, we need to get off the freeway, pause, and reflect on what we are thankful for this holiday season.
Christmas trees can be one of those traditions that can cause disasters. Is it too big, too short, too full, or too sparse? Did your family always do a real tree or is artificial the way to go because of all the sap and clean up?
And don’t even get aquatic creatures started on the hassles of getting a tree. You just can’t keep one in an aquarium without weighing it down with a ton of lead garland!
Christmas Recordings
Nobody says “tape” anymore, do they? Somebody can’t tape you if they are using a smartphone or a digital recorder, can they?
I am old enough to remember when I taped my kids during Christmas. I don’t know where the videotape is now. Perhaps my kids got rid of the evidence. Or as we like to say around the house, “It must be in storage!”
At any rate, I could have taped some great death-defying scenes if I had stunt doubles for my kids. Then again, it’s difficult to find a stunt double that looks like a preschooler.
