Cartoon: Quick Seasons

Cartoon of a boy in winter clothes and another dressed in summer clothes

Cartoon of two boys. One is dressed for winter, while the other is in summer clothes. One says, “The seasons changed? No one told me.”

I used to think it was cool going out in the winter air without a coat. The first time I caught walking pneumonia tempered my excitement in that arena. Now that I’m older, I find myself flailing my arms and speaking in a shrill voice to my children who want to go out in sub zero weather in shorts and flip flops. I guess the chickens have come home to roost.

At least they can’t say no one ever told them.

Cartoon: Communication Quack

Cartoon of a duck couple

Cartoon of two ducks. One says to the other, “All you ever say is, ‘Quack, quack, quack!’ You call that communication?”

Communication is harder than it sounds, but it’s easier than it looks. Body language can say a lot about the person, can’t it? Judging by the look of the duck on the right, he’s communicating very clearly that he’s not taking advice gracefully.

Cartoon: How Greedy?

Cartoon of a boy and a bank teller. The boy says, "How greedy do you have to be to work here?"

Cartoon of a boy and a bank teller. The boy says, “How greedy do you have to be to work here?”

When I was a teen, I loved working for a fast food restaurant, because I could have the merchandise for dinner. It’s too bad the same concept doesn’t quite work in the banking institutions. Then again, I’ve been reading about the financial crises in 2008. There were a lot of bank executives and Wall Street financiers that appeared to be doing just that.

If a bank teller helped herself to the bank’s merchandise, that would be called embezzling. If an executive helps himself, is that called a bonus?

Cartoon of a boy and a teacher with outstretched arms. The boy says, “I’m not a hugger, Mrs. Carmine. How about a meaningful fist bump?

With cold and flu season in full force, maybe this is good advice for everyone, not just the introverts!

I drew this cartoon for K! Magazine.
