Last October, the Halloween obsession was people dressing up like clowns and charging people. There were stories about people turning the tables and attacking the clowns. All that month, I kept hearing Send in the Clowns swirl around in my mind. There was a time when clowns were considered fun and humorous. Now, they are seen as a threat and a maligned subgroup.

One thing is for sure, when you go for a job interview, don’t dress as a clown or act like one, unless that is one of the job requirements. Even then, I would leave the clown shoes at home.

Risk, Rewards, Regrets, and Resolve

Risk inherently means there is a possibility of failure. If you don’t wash your hands, you could wind up sick. If you play in a busy street, there is a good chance you’ll wind up in the hospital or morgue. If you put all your money on one stock, you could become rich or have a lot of scrap paper lying around.

When a person feels they have nothing to lose, they take big risks. The more money and success someone has, they become risk averse.

Halloween and Politics

According to a quick Internet search, Lord Acton was the one who originally said, “Power Corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

No matter who you are, the temptation is there to become a little vampire whenever you gain a little power. The more you get, the more the fangs start protruding and you begin fearing the light. Hey! no one is righteous, not even one.

On this Halloween night, be careful out there! Because the politicians will get you if you don’t watch out!

There are times a flash of a speeding wife has startled me.  There are moments when we have felt like two rocket ships passing in the night. There have been days when we’ve wished we could trade places with the snoring dog. Have you ever had days like these?

When you are a parent, a seemingly quiet day can turn into a frantic speed fest in a flash. Babies need changed, the boss sends a text about a report she needs this afternoon and the older child just announced that breakfast cereal in toaster was a bad idea after all.

The super parent’s life can spin out of control in a flash. How can you maintain perspective and get a grip on reality when you smell burnt flakes and raisins coming from the kitchen?
