Mopped-up Fun

When you work with kids, you know it’s going well when the janitor gets to deal with some mopped-up fun. That idea inspired this cartoon.

Mopped-up fun cartoon. A janitor says, “I always know the preschoolers' class had an exciting morning in here when you ask for a mop.”

When I am leading large group activities on a Sunday morning, I smile when I realize the game is going to require blue tarps on the floor. I know the kids will get excited and the morning will be memorable. Bring on the rain ponchos, goggles, and a mop!

His Thoughts Are Not Our Thoughts

One of the factors I love about creativity is how it brings out the many unique perspectives in the world. I thought about that and Isaiah 55:8-9 when I drew this His thoughts are not our thoughts cartoon.

His thoughts are not our thoughts cartoon. Man says, "His thoughts are not our thoughts. Then again, your ideas are pretty unique too."

I like eccentric, non-conforming characters. When I was in art school, I admired those students with the courage to be unique. At least I thought they were unique. It turns out they got their cues from others too. It just wasn’t the characters or culture I was used to in the Midwest.

Church Bulletin Deadlines

Pastors and church administrative professionals have to be aware of church bulletin deadlines. They can ruin the day for an unorganized pastor!

One day, my wife came home and discussed the challenges of an associate trying to meet the deadline for the newsletter. This led to the following cartoon.

Church bulletin deadlines cartoon. A woman says, “If you don’t get me the copy for the bulletin in ten minutes, Sunday morning church will be canceled.”

Sermons in 3D Cartoon

Some churches are always searching for the latest technology to enhance a worship service. So one day, I thought of this “Sermons in 3D Cartoon.”

Sermons in 3D cartoon. A mom says to a pastor, “He’s listened to all of your sermons since I told him you presented them in 3D.”

Isn’t it amazing what a little creativity and technology can add to a sermon or presentation? Still, I think 3D technology would be a bit distracting. However, it could be effective, and a little convicting when a pastor would reach right out to you.

Palm Sunday Cartoon

Happy Palm Sunday! It will be an exciting time in many churches and children’s ministries today. The palm branches will be flying in many church services. It can be a confusing time for the kids and since the event happens so close to spring break, I had to draw this Palm Sunday cartoon!

Palm Sunday Spring Break cartoon. A boy says, "I thought Palm Sunday was when everyone went to Florida for spring break."

For those who don’t know what Palm Sunday is, here’s an explanation. The story is found in all four of the Gospels.
