It is Memorial Day, 2022. Today, I think back to a post I wrote in 2010. It was a post about my wife’s grandfather who served in World War II. He had passed away long before I met my wife. I wondered what stories he would have had to tell.
This day is about honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. I know I enjoy many freedoms today because of the men and women who made the choice to defend my country.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
John 15:13 (NIV)
Today, we live in a world that places less value on life than ever before. It seems some are all too eager to take the lives as others as they end of ending their own life.
However, we still hold dear the person who pays the ultimate sacrifice for protecting others. My prayer this day is that others see the value of their own lives. Yet, also see how valuable the lives of others is as well.
There is so much potential in each and every life. When we allow others to reach their potential, amazing things can happen. Each life has the potential to change the world. Each person has the potential to bring bring life or death to the world.
So today, let us remember those who sacrificed so much that others may live.
May you have a blessed Memorial Day 2022.
