Illustration Friday: Glow

Cartoon of a boy and a radiant girl. The boy says, "How can I keep my bad attitude with you glowing like that?"

Cartoon of a boy and a radiant girl. The boy says, “How can I keep my bad attitude with you glowing like that?”

Don’t you love it when people are in such a good mood, they glow? People that peaceful and positive attract others like a moth to a flame. Attitudes are contagious so we might as well spread a good one. That’ll come in handy as those of us in the Northern Hemisphere begin the first day of winter.

While I drew this last year, this was perfect for this week’s theme at Illustration Friday.” This week’s word is “glow.”

Cartoon: Christmas Stress

Cartoon of a boy with a wreath on his head

It’s that time of year where the stress level goes through the roof. I wonder if the mom in this cartoon placed the wreath on the boy’s head in an absent-minded frenzy or in frustration. Either way, it’s going to be extra hard for this boy to be good until Christmas!

Illustration Friday: Snow

Illustration of a skier stuck in the snow. I drew this for Illustration Friday. This week's word is "snow."

Here is an illustration I did of a skier stuck in the snow. This shows why you won’t find me on a ski slope. I imagine this would be the fate of me. No, I never went snow skiing. I tried water skiing once. My ankles betrayed me and I couldn’t get out of the water. I’m assuming a similar fate would await me if I took to the slopes.

I drew this for Illustration Friday. This week’s word is “snow.”

Don’t forget the Old Media

Terry Whalin had a good article on the perils of ignoring print media

http://terrywhalin.blogspot.com/2012/11/building-your-platform-dont-ignore-old.html.

When new technology comes along, we tend to assume it will obliterate everything that came before it. When radio became popular, pundits claimed doom for the newspapers. When TV came on the scene, radio and newspapers where going to be history. And then came the Internet…

But Terry’s article reminds me it is foolish to totally leave print media in favor of the Internet. Sure, newspapers aren’t as large as they used to be, but they are still here. New technology may change the old forms of communication, but the old forms still have their purpose. Ignore them at your peril.
