New Bored Record

School is almost out for the summer around the USA. Kids will be rejoicing for a good five minutes or so. Then they will attempt to establish a “new bored record.” Five minutes may seem a bit ambitious, but it can be done!

New bored record cartoon: One boy says,"We've been on summer break for five minutes. I'm bored."

I remember the days when I was bored out of my skull during the first few days of summer break. After all, there were only three or four channels to watch.

We have more channels today, but the kids still have to suffer from nothing good to watch on TV. Come to think of it, when was there something good to watch on TV?

Selling the Movie Rights

Has a loved one ever told such a good story that you suggested selling the movie rights? I’ve heard some wonderful stories about my family. That inspired me to draw and write this cartoon.

Selling the movie rights cartoon of a boy and grandfather

One of my fondest memories of my father-in-law was when we would drive all night to Florida. He would tell me stories about his childhood, his ancestors, and the lessons he learned through life’s struggles to keep us awake.

A Senior Pastor’s Moat

Sometimes, it’s difficult to get access to a leader. We may need to have crucial conversations, but a leader may need solitude to get important work done. That idea inspired me to draw this “A senior pastor’s moat” cartoon.

No matter where you go, it can be difficult to get access to leaders. Sometimes, it is because leaders get interrupted continually. Other times, it can be because of personalities that clash. Then there are times it may be because there was a great sale on moats and alligators. It can be for a host of reasons.

How to Increase Your Prayer Life

Summer is coming and kids will soon be out of school for the summer. I remember the times when parents and kids had to adjust to the new normal. That inspired this How to Increase Your Prayer Life cartoon.

How to increase your prayer life Cartoon: A mom says, "My prayer life is so much stronger since the kids got out of school!"

There is nothing like a crisis to increase our prayer lives. It can be a minor, annoying crisis like boisterous kids that are trying to entertain themselves. Or we can experience major crises that bring us to our knees. Both types of situations make us reconsider increasing our quiet time.

Crazy Faith

The other day, my wife and I were talking with a friend about recent decisions. My wife was led to step away from a flourishing ministry to make room for the next step in her life. My wife commented on how some decisions require faith. The friend replied, “Or requires being a little crazy!” Hmm… crazy faith? That sounds about right!

I suppose any faith looks crazy to many people. After all, we live in a world that touts Seeing is believing! Yet, if everyone lived by this mantra, we would create nothing new or innovative. Without faith, there is no hope. Without hope, what’s the point of living if the present looks bleak?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
